Trauma Competent Caregiving Training

Trauma Competent Caregiving is an essential course for anyone -- but most importantly for those who work directly with children who have been impacted by early childhood trauma.  This would be ANY child who has been in the fostercare system, been adopted, has experienced abuse, neglect, or maltreatment in their early years of growth.  Social workers, biological parents, foster and adopting parents, grandparents, and daily caregivers would all benefit from this training.  It begins with understanding how trauma has impacted the brain, explains how this manifests in child behaviors, what interventions work and what does not work, and how to appropriately help a child heal from their wounds.  It also ends with time spent on self-care so that you can be at your best while working with children who have been affected by trauma.
